Karin Knipphals

I worked as a professional presentation and communication skills trainer and consultant in Germany and the US for more than two decades.
My formal qualification includes a degree in translating in English and Spanish at the Fachhochschule in Cologne (TH Koeln), Germany with majoring in phonetics and rhetoric and studying rhetoric at UCLA, CA, USA. I also received professional training as a singer for six years in Cologne, Germany with Eric Mentzel, Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, USA and continued with voice, singing, breathing work and acting.
For seven years I worked as a journalist in news and feature for different radio and TV stations, including Antenne Düsseldorf, RTL (Radio Télévision Luxembourg) and the WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk).
During this time I completed intensive radio voice training and optimized my skills as a writer for radio and television at the Academy of Broadcasting in Dortmund.
In the process, I developed a deep know-how and understanding of presentation, singing, stage work, voice, speech, image work, communication and body language.
I was born in Wolfsburg, Germany, have lived in the Rheinland area, Germany for twenty-six years and after traveling extensively through Europe, the US and Australia, I migrated to California, USA in 2013.
After my first english lesson in school, English became my favourite language and while participating in an AFS Exchange Student Program 1982-83 in the US, I knew that one day I wanted to live there. I found my home in beautiful San Rafael, CA, Carmel-by-the-sea and Monterey, CA, USA for six years before returning to Germany 2019.
I love working with and serving people, singing, songwriting, playing the guitar and the piano, vegan and vegetarian cuisine, cooking and of course: my fabulous dog Ally.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you.
